Doing God’s will builds up character in us. Doing God’s will builds up in us that which shall never need to be torn down. “He that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.” Every obedience of our lives adds a new touch of beauty on our soul. Every true thing we do in Christ’s name, though it leave no mark anywhere else in God’s universe, leaves an imperishable mark on our own life. Every deed of kindness or unselfishness that we perform, with love in our hearts for Christ, though it bless no other soul in all the wide world, leaves its benediction on ourselves. We are sure, therefore, of getting a blessing in our own life when we are obedient, even though we impart no good to any other.
